Craniofacial
Surgery
Craniosynostosis (sometimes called
craniostenosis) is a disorder in which there is early fusion of the
sutures of the skull in childhood.
It produces an abnormally shaped
head and, at times, appearance of the face. The deformity varies
significantly depending on the suture or sutures involved. Surgical
correction may be necessary to improve appearance and provide space
for the growing brain.

Laminectomy
for the Tethered Cord
A tethered spinal cord is characterized
by an abnormal attachment of the spinal cord to the surrounding
tissues.
The lower end of a normal spinal cord is found in the upper
lumbar spinal canal. The attachment to the spinal cord usually causes
the spinal cord to end lower in the lumbar or sacral spinal canal. In
the majority of cases it is congenital (the patient is born with it).
